INFO:
Despite high poverty rates and low broadband penetration in the northwestern Virginia communities it covers, the Recorder continues to serve its readers 146 years after its founding. Owner/editor/publisher Anne Adams says the keys to the Recorder’s success have been raising subscription and newsstand prices along with the quality of the journalism. Readers, she says, are paying for the value. Judy Woodruff of the “PBS NewsHour,” featured the Recorder and spoke with owner/publisher/editor Anne Adams in a report about news outlets’ sustainability as part of her “America at a Crossroads” series.
