Portland is the oldest neighborhood in Louisville and one of the earliest known settlements in Kentucky. The 3,000 acres of land that extend into the Ohio River was once an independent town bustling with river traffic. Today, it is one of Louisville's poorest neighborhoods; however, with new families and investments moving into the area, it is experiencing a revitalization.
